Two thirds of consumers say they eat natural cheese at least once a week, according to Mintel. Millennials would like to see more information in stores about cheese flavor profiles and pairings, and 65 percent like to get recommendations from others on what cheeses to try. They also believe there are too many cheese options in the store, and not enough of the right options.
Three in five millennials would like to see more local cheese at their grocery store and would be willing to pay more for it. Organic cheese is also important, as well as health credentials. Forty-eight percent of millennials think it is important to limit their dairy intake, so non-dairy cheese alternatives could use that opportunity to grow sales, which are currently only a small portion of the market, reports Mintel.
